Availability & Compatibility
|
Availability is an extremely importent part of any website. A sites main goal is of course to reach as many people as possible and so it is crucial that it is accessible to all viewers, not only those viewing from desktop computers but also those whom are viewing via screen readers or mobile devices. Considering all of these aspects and catering for them is neccessary, to ensure the greatest possible number of happy customers viewing your website. Conforming to the standards set out by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) affords developers piece of mind that they are delivering an accessible product to the web.
Hand in hand with availability is Compatibility which is the ability of a website to be viewed in a number of different browsers namely: Internet Explorer, Firefox, Google Chrome and Safari, and to render out the same in each of these browsers without any gliches or faults. Although we tend to take this for granted, one will be surprised at the number of websites, that fail to be browser compliant and in doing so, fail to accomodate the largest possible number of people the proper viewing experience.
